WHO IS THE PARANORMAL PAPARAZZI?

 

My name is Michael Gavin and I love to tell stories with photographs.

 

For as long as I can remember I've loved pictures. From simple 126 film-style cameras, Polaroid devices, and even the short lived disc format, capturing moments on film fascinated me. I've been fortunate to learn the art at a time when film was the only option.  Rolling, shooting (on my trusty Canon AE-1 35mm camera) and developing images provided the perfect diversion during high school days. The advent of digital imagery allowed practice and perfection of the art.

Marrying my love of classic horror, fantasy and the unusual has offered a niche outlet for telling stories in pictures.  Cemeteries, Halloween, Renaissance Fairs, Conventions and themed environments set the stage for scores of fiendishly fun photographs and wonderful friendships.

Currently based in Jacksonville FL (with my wife, three cats and hearse), I still manage to travel to Central and South FL regularly.  In addition to horror and photography, cooking, science fiction and theme parks  capture my interest.  I also confess to being a HUGE Haunted Mansion (Disney) and Universal Studios Classic Monsters fiend.  A full time, mundane job as well writing for Inside the Magic (themed entertainment news site) provides the funds for habits (good or bad) and the occasional new photography toy.
